Time To Celebrate. Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale 2020. Show & Sale will offer Important 20th and 21st Century Furniture and Art Objects and Design Expo will offer Cutting-edge Modern Design and Technology at the most during Modernism Week.
Modernism Week. The 20th annual Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale is coming to the Palm Springs Convention Center February 14-17, 2020. Held in conjunction with Modernism Week, the worlds most important Modernism Show. The Lineup is spectacular: 90 premier national and international decorative and fine arts dealers with items representing all design movements of the 20th Century and select 21st century items.
Design Expo. The Show & Sale will be once again joined by the Palm Springs Modern Design Expo, a showcase of 40 dealers featuring contemporary cutting-edge home design products and technology. Weekend admission is $20 for both shows and includes return entry all weekend and a catalog. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets are available at palmspringsmodernism.com or at the door. The Palm Springs Convention Center is located at 277 N. Avenida Caballeros in Palm Springs.
Shipping Container Home. This year, an innovative and sleek pod-style prefab luxury shipping container unit from Buhaus Built will be on display outside the Palm Springs Convention Center. Designed by cofounders Nate Garnero and Douglas Burdge, AIA, the prefab is a 160 square foot dwelling unit made up of high-end finishes from Dornbracht to Corian. This multipurpose space is designed to be used as a backyard office, guest house, airbnb, and even as hotel rooms. It will be available for tours throughout the run of the Show & Sale. At the 20th Anniversary show, a free exhibition will be available to Modernism Week attendees in the Convention Center lobby outside the doors of the Show & Sale and Modern Design Expo. The Museum of California Design returns to the Show & Sale for the seventh year with the exhibition “Eat, Sit & Be Merry: California Designs for Children.” The post-World War II mid-century modern period was a particularly good time for children’s design in California. Eat, Sit & Be Merry: California Designs for Children will continue the Museum’s exploration of the state’s well-earned reputation as a source of innovative design, in this case through dishware, furniture, textiles and toys on a child-appropriate scale. The exhibition will feature modernist designs.
