Session I, 20th Century Art + Design, features unique and beautifully executed European glass and ceramics, from a diminutive George Woodall for Webb perfume bottle, a number of Scandinavian ceramics with unique glazes, to glassworks by Loetz, Galle, and Daum. A Southern collection features an Oriental Poppy and a Dragonfly table lamp, both by Tiffany. The sale also boasts some excellent examples of American ceramics, particularly a beautifully executed carved Pewabic vase with a spectacular metallic glaze, and a rare example by William J. Walley. Rookwood, Newcomb, Marblehead, Van Briggle, and Grueby round out the ceramics. A collection of Western fine art out of Cleveland, Ohio is also featured. This collection contains a number of bronzes and works of fine art featuring cowboys and American Indians. An L. & J.G. Stickley mantel clock and Charles Rohlfs chair feature in decorative Arts & Crafts items. Another collection out of Michigan contains a number of modern graphics from Sam Francis, Robert Motherwell, Ralph Humphrey, and Larry Zox, as well as a colorful wall sculpture by David Gerstein.
